Reading time calculator
How long does it take to read a book?
Reading time depends on a book's length and your pace. The average adult reads silently at about 238 words a minute for non-fiction and 260 for fiction, based on Brysbaert's 2019 meta-analysis of 190 studies. Pick a book to see how long it takes at your speed, and how it breaks into reading sessions.

Read it with the Guild
The hours are the hard part.
ReadersGuild opens soon. Reading time is easy to look up and hard to find. Open a fire and up to twenty readers sit down with you, each with their own book, and none of you has to remember to log it afterwards.

“I built this once before. People kept their books in it, their sessions, their whole year, and I shut it down. This is me building it again properly, and everyone who was on the first one comes back as an Elder.”
